The lion (Panthera leo) is a large cat belonging to the Panthera genus, found in Africa and India. Though not currently endangered in Africa, three-quarters of their populations are declining due to human-wildlife conflict, prey decline, habitat loss, climate change and wildlife trade. Despite being apex predators, these majestic animals are vulnerable to human activities that disturb their natural habitats.
